Earth's hidden beauty awaits. The narrows of Zion are one of the most incredible, beautiful places on Earth. While most think of the Grand Canyon when talking canyons, these cut the multi-colored red rock sandstone can be hundreds of feet wide all the way down to less than an arm's length apart, yet remain hundreds of feet high. Welcome to the hidden realm of southern Utah's red rock canyon country where rarely visited places of extraordinary beauty await those willing to make a little extra effort. Ten day trip will includes 3 or more 1-day canyoneering trips. Basic rappelling and hiking skills required. Day 1. Travel. Days 2-4. Zion National Park, Ponderosa resort. $69-$159 a day per person, depending upon accommodations desired (tent, basic cabin, deluxe cabin). Fee includes: accommodations, 3 meals a day. Orderville Gulch canyoneering trip (CLICK HERE) with guides (difficulty 3). Also included: horseback riding, ATV trips, climbing wall use, skeet shooting, archery and more. Children 3-11 are $59 a day, accommodations, meals and childcare included. (Hydration daypack recommended for canyoneering, rental or purchase available to EarthTraces members. Days 5-6: Bryce Canyon National Park (difficulty 1). Overnight at Canyon Livery Bed & Breakfast in nearby Tropic, Utah ($65-$95 a night per room plus $15 an additional person) or the Stone Canyon Inn Bed & Breakfast ($99-$139 a night per room including breakfast) or Bryce Canyon campgrounds (~$20 night per site). Other good choices: Bryce Canyon Inn and Cabins ($50-$68 a night, $5 per person breakfast package optional). Self guided daytrips into Bryce Canyon. Backcountry overnight possible ($10 permit). Meals and any personal adventure costs not included. Childcare available at $50 a day. Day 7: Kodachrome Basin State Park (difficulty 1). Named after the film because of its vivid colors - blue sky, red rock, flowers and green brush. Unique rock formations and easy to difficult hikes - your choice. Horseback riding available. Kodachrome Basin Cabins ($65 a night) and state camping grounds available or a 1 hour drive to Bryce Canyon lodging. Days 8-9: Cedar Breaks National Monument (difficulty 1). Beautiful day hikes around this sheer red rock face. Lush forests with mountain streams and meadows thick with flowers. Overnight at Cedar Breaks Lodge Ski Resort ($99-139 a night per room) in nearby Brian's Head, Utah. Summer discounts usually available. Day 10: Travel. All climbing and rappelling equipment provided - however, remember to let the trip coordinator know in advance what you would like to participate in. Participants are responsible for appropriate clothing, overnight sleeping equipment, food, water, and transportation. Trip planner, devotions guide and course materials: $10.00 per person. This trip may also be taken at anytime by a family or group. Local guides and childcare provided at Zion, trail instructions or local guides (addt'l fee) available for Bryce.
